FIRST PRIZE
Wesley has been learning piano for 8 years and is currently studying for the Royal Conservatory of Music ARCT Diploma. He has participated in several piano competitions and won medals in Sonafest 2025, SIPF Bach Festival 2024, and PIPC 2024.

Calvin To
Piano
FIRST PRIZE
Calvin loves music and has been playing the piano for seven years. He also has studied cello for about four years now. Calvin has made significant progress in his music studies and received high marks with distinction for his piano and cello exams from Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) and Trinity College London. He received the RCM Regional Gold Medal for his levels 6 and 7 exams for piano. He was accepted to the 2025 WMEA Junior All-State Orchestra. He serves as the cello section leader in his school orchestra and was selected to participate in the 2025 LWSD Middle School Honor Orchestra. Calvin is also a cellist in one of the string quartets at The Music Matters Foundation, performing regularly for charitable and educational communities. Additionally, he has participated in various local and international music competitions, receiving top awards. Outside of music, Calvin enjoys playing various sports such as ultimate frisbee, flag football, basketball, and badminton.

Katherine has been learning piano for four years, and has participated in several online piano competitions and won rewards consistently in the local piano competitions for the Bach Festival, the Sonatina Festival, and the Music Matters International Competition.

Jocelyn Chen

Jocelyn started playing piano at age 5. Since then, she has grown very much as a person and a pianist, persevering through the pandemic. Over time, some of the achievements that she has made include:

Evan Ip

Evan has been playing the piano since he was seven years old. Over the years, he has enjoyed participating in various recitals, concerts, and music festivals. Because of his love for music, he started playing the violin when he was nine. He is a 5th grader this year and has had a lot of fun playing in the school orchestra! Outside of music, Evan is a black belt in Taekwondo and enjoys playing tennis and video games.

Annalise Huang

Annalise has been playing the piano since age 5. She has won numerous top prizes at local competitions, including the Russian Chamber Music Competition, Seattle's Bach Festival, and Classical Viennese Festival. Annalise received First Class Honors with Distinction for her recent Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Level 5 exam. Besides playing the piano, Annalise enjoys doing ballet and playing the viola with her school orchestra.

Yoseph began his musical journey at the age of three, learning to play the violin and quickly developing a deep love for music. He has been a dedicated member of the Tacoma Youth Symphony for the past three years, where he continues to grow as a performer and ensemble player. In addition to the violin, Yoseph has been studying piano since the age of seven, further broadening his musical skills. In 2024, Yoseph earned a second place at the Golden Classical Music Awards as a solo violinist. In his free time, Yoseph enjoys reading, building with Legos, and doing fun, adventurous activities with friends.
