Music Matters International Music Competition

Application Deadline - July 31st, 2024

The competition is open for Piano, Piano Duet, Violin, Viola, Cello, String Duet, String Trio, String Quartet, and String Quintet. 

The application must be submitted by July 31st. Submissions must be accepted on time.

The registration fee is a non-refundable application fee due with the application.

One applicant is limited to applying for one solo instrumental division.

Competition Schedule

  • Competition Registration: May 31st to July 31st

  • The competition will be adjudicated digitally from August 12th - August 18th, 2024

  • Winners will be announced on the Music Matters website by August 27th, 2024

Elementary 

  • Age: 6–9 on January 1, 2024

  • Competitions: Piano and String

  • Competition Type: Solo and Duet

  • Entry Fee: $60 (Solo)

  • Entry Fee: $80 (Duet)

Junior

  • Age: 10–12 on January 1, 2024

  • Competitions: Piano and String

  • Competition Type: Solo and Duet

  • Entry Fee: $89 (Solo)

  • Entry Fee: $109 (Duet)

Intermediate

  • Age: 13–15 on January 1, 2024

  • Competitions: Piano and String

  • Competition Type: Solo and Duet

  • Entry Fee: $110 (Solo)

  • Entry Fee: $129 (Duet)

Senior

  • Age: 16–18 on January 1, 2024

  • Competitions: Piano and String

  • Competition Type: Solo and Duet

  • Entry Fee: $140 (Solo)

  • Entry Fee: $169 (Duet)

Chamber Music for Strings (3 to 5 performers)

  • Age: Ensemble members must be 15 - 18 on January 1, 2024

  • Competitions: Piano & String 

  • Competition Type: Trio, Quartet, Quintet 

  • Entry Fee: $189 for each ensemble

Prize

Awards:

 

Selected winners will receive an invitation to perform at the Winners' Rising Star Honor Concert at Benaroya Hall in October 2024. The Benaroya Hall is a concert venue that can be listed as one of the landmarks of your musical journey. In this hall, the most renowned worldwide artists have performed, such as Lou Reed, Arlo Guthrie, Yuja Wang, Lang Lang, Mahani Teave, Joe Hisaishi, Alexander Gavrylyuk, Marina Staneva, Evgeny Kissin, Florian Krumpöck, Jackson Browne, Yo-Yo Ma and more. 

 

Our Artistic Director will host a cocktail reception party after the recital. Each winner will receive a competition trophy and a complimentary souvenir. 

 

Winners who receive an invitation to play at the Winners' Rising Star Honor Concert and decide to decline the invitation and not travel will receive their diploma and prize medal by mail. 

Instructors on winners will receive a certificate to recognize their efforts and contributions.
