Richard Henrickson
Concert Violinist
Richard Henrickson is an active professional violinist in the northwest region of the United States. He holds a Master's degree from The Juilliard School in New York, where he studied under Paul Makanowitzky, Joseph Fuchs, and the Juilliard String Quartet. His accompanist was Emanuel Ax. Some of his past professional engagements include being a member of the New Jersey Symphony, American Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, and serving as an Associate Professor and member of the Hofstra String Quartet at Hofstra University. Additionally, he toured Europe and Russia as the second violinist, arranger, and producer for RCA's Grammy-nominated Hampton String Quartet, the best-selling string quartet of all time known for their "What If Mozart Wrote" album series on RCA Victor. In 1993, Richard Henrickson was invited to perform at an event held at the White House. Furthermore, Richard Henrickson enjoyed a successful career as a studio and Broadway musician, playing violin on approximately 200 hit recordings and major motion picture soundtracks alongside members of the New York Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He participated in over 5,000 performances across 33 different Broadway musicals, including the last 12 years of Les Misérables. Richard Henrickson also served as composer-in-residence for the Cleveland Ballet from 1978 to 1997, where he composed the symphonic rock ballet "Ozone Hour." His diverse talents led to a solo violin performance with television star Dixie Carter at the Clinton White House for the PBS television special "Cabaret from the East Wing."
